Chad Olcott

REALTOR® and Project Manager

Chad joins the Heafey Baum Group as our newest REALTOR® and Project Manager.  Combining his love of design with his obsession for real estate, he is excited to help HBG and clients navigate the complex stages of getting a home ready for market.

Raised in the leafy suburbs of Connecticut, Chad grew up with an interior designer mother and cultivated an appreciation of style. When other boys his age were memorizing NFL teams or Grateful Dead songs, he was devouring design magazines, noting the difference between Mitchell Gold and gold leaf. Chad attended college in upstate New York and graduate school at Harvard, devoting himself for two decades to educational nonprofit management and then to raising his own three children.  All the while, he was busy buying and selling his own homes as a way to satisfy his passion for home remodeling projects. Then, in 2007, he, his wife Laura, and their longtime friend Virginia Davis, launched their first retail venture, Mulberry’s Market, a specialty grocery store in Piedmont, CA.

Mulberry’s Market drew rave reviews for its gourmet grocery assortment, delicious prepared foods, and artisanal coffee; more than anything the store was praised for its design and homey feel – traditional but not corny, modern, but not cold.  It became a launch pad for Chad and Laura as they embraced the Piedmont community through school fundraising campaigns, citywide bond measures, and support for local non-profits.

After nearly seven years, Chad returned to his true calling of interior design with the launch of Mulberry’s Home in 2014. Located in an old Oakland Library on Piedmont Avenue, this lifestyle boutique furniture store with it’s curated assortment of treasures narrowly escaped the pandemic and closed its doors for good in March of 2020. Now Chad splits his time between serving customers at Mulberry’s Market and dressing up houses so that HBG can get them SOLD!
