Out and About in Temescal

Bake Sale Betty’s one of my favorite stops in town. Go and get a tomato mozzarella sandwich or be sure to try the fried chicken sandwich covered in zesty coleslaw. Betty will be the one behind the counter in the blue wig. Shhh! –Don’t tell her I told you but her real name is Alison!

Doña Tomas is a terrific spot for Mexican fare. There’s a full bar and lots of adult libations that you’ll want to try but the top shelf margarita is the winner. For your main course, be sure to order the carnitas.

Right next-door to Doña is Pizzaiolo, the “Best Trattoria in Town.” Order your pizza with the rocket or the calamari prepared in the wood oven.

The Kingfish.  Looking for a night out? The Kingfish is an Oakland institution for shuffleboard, adult beverages and the latest sporting events. A few years back, they moved The Kingfish in its entirety 1 block from Claremont Avenue to its current location on Telegraph.

Lane Splitters is a hip pizza and beer joint just two blocks off of 51 st. It’s a great laid-back spot for pizza and a brew.

Scout Hardware just re-opened (its original location was on College in Rockridge). Scout is the new place to for something cool and unique for your home. Be sure to stop in during the day and take a look when you are window-shopping.
